Ethnic Studies Week, October 1-7

Well, in the manner of such institutions, our UU fellowship did finally adopt a position supporting ethnic studies week last week. We are having an adult studies course on this topic and immigration issues starting in January. Better late than never. Some wheels take an awful lot of grease! Thank you for all your work in coordinating this effort. It has been great watching as the movement has grown. Public sharing of ideas and concerns has developed, even in small communities such as Port Townsend--who's athletic teams are called the "Redskins" with a Sioux warrior as the mascot. This in the midst of 6 NW Coastal tribal groups within 50 mile radius of the city. Our local "ethnic studies" will include awareness of the impact of racism in our community in relation to the First Nations. Thanks again for your leadership...Barbara
